Lateral thinking, a term coined by Edward de Bono, a Maltese psychologist, physician and writer, is a technique of problem Lsolving. To approach problems indirectly at diverse angles,instead of concentrating on one approach at length, is lateral thinking.
Trying harder in the same direction may not be as useful as changing direction. Thinking or talking about a familiar subject, over and over again, means following the same old neuronal path. Unless the cells are forced to find unfamiliar neurons or new parts of cells, they will stick to known paths. You exercise the same cell connections, while you are in a familiar place with familiar people, listening to known subjects. Introducing something new will enhance the properties of neural circuits, improving their processing speed. So, try a new approach, the next time you solve Sudoku… like, now!

Math Puzzle
Cryptograms, first used by the Spartan military in the 5 th century BC, are now seen in newspapers and magazines, as a fun game. In a cryptographic puzzle, each letter is C replaced by a different one. Recovering the original letter is the only way to solve the puzzle.
American Cryptogram Association, a non-profit organisation, is trying to promote the art of cryptanalysis. Cryptograms do act as good fuel for the brain. The Math puzzles that follow, though not too cryptic, should prove good fuel, too…

Each couple, including Jay and Rex, arrived arrived from different US cities, one from Lubbock, came with their children of different numbers ranging from 1-5. Given the clues below, can you find each couple, the city in which they lived, and the number of children they were bringing to the resort?
a) The five Moore sisters were Carol, the daughter who wed Rex,
Amy, the one who stayed in San Francisco, and the lady who had 5
children.
b) Amy and her family weren’t the ones coming from Los Angeles.

Sudoku Humor
Clive was solving the toughest Sudoku puzzle he had ever encountered. He was in a sweat because he had never Cthought he would ever find a puzzle he couldn’t crack.
Looking up to heaven he said, “Lord take pity on me. If you help me solve this Sudoku, I will go to mass every Sunday for the rest of me life and give up me Irish whiskey.”
Miraculously, he got a breakthrough in his Sudoku puzzle, and all the numbers fell into place. Clive looked up again and said, “Never mind, Lord. I found the solution.”
