Math Puzzle

Answer:
7 more book binders had to be employed to complete the work in the stipulated period.

The total number of books that had been bound in 10 days was 1140.So the books bound in 1 day = 1140/10 = 114 books. 19 binders did the work. So one binder bound 114 / 19 = 6 books. The number of books to be bound in 9 days = 1404. . So number of books to be bound in 1 day = 1404/ 9 = 156 books. This can be done by 156/ 6 = 26 binders. There were already 19 binders, so 26 - 19 = 7 more binders had to be employed.

<!--

Similarly, as there were 5 queues in the evening show, it took Bob 400/5 * 30 - 30 = 2370 seconds to reach the counter.

So it took Martin 12600 seconds or 210 more minutes to reach the counter.

Now the attendance for the shows was in the ratio 1: 2 or there were double the number of persons who went to the evening show.

If x be the number of people in the afternoon show,

then the number of persons who went to the evening show was 2x.

So we have 5x + 6 (2x) = 3400.

Or 5x + 12x = 3400. x =3400/ 17.

x = 200. so, 2x = 400.

Math Puzzle

Answer:
Bob saved time and took 210 minutes less than Martin. The number of seats occupied in the afternoon show was 200, while 400 were occupied in the evening show.

If it took 30 seconds per person in the queue, it took 499 * 30 =14970 seconds for Mart to reach the ticket counter.

Or 5x + 12x = 3400. x =3400/ 17.

x = 200. so, 2x = 400.

When you think out of the box, you think creatively, or in an unconventional form. The origin of this phrase can be traced back to a puzzle created by the British mathematician, Henry Earnest Dudeney. This puzzle has nine dots arranged in three rows of three dots each. The challenge is to connect all the nine dots, making use of just four lines, without taking the pencil, off the paper. You guessed it - the solution to the puzzle is “out of the box”. What about you? Are you an “out of the box” sort of person? Here’s your chance to prove it..

The afternoon show tickets sold at $5 a ticket and the evening ones at $6. The number of seats was 600, and the total income earned by the circus was $3400. If people could tell you with precision, what, specifically, is bothering them, and if you can find out what they want instead, you can deal with it.

Use of vague phrases, and generalizations, results in mental fog. Need to break through that fog? Picking up new words and phrases, and using them in the appropriate place, helps. So, shall we start right away?

Millions across the world opt for a diet, high in protein and low in carbohydrate content. This was particularly so, in the 1970’s, before saturated fat and heart disease became closely associated. In recent times, high-protein, lowcarb diets have once again become popular, due to the faster initial weight-loss they can help achieve. However, dietitians retain doubts, about the long-term health effects, of these carb-restricted weight-loss plans..

Experts say that carbohydrate is a nutrient group which is readily converted to energy. Minimizing carbohydrate intake, and only consuming diets, high in protein, can quickly lead to tiredness and fatigue. Researchers have found that carbohydrates are also good for one’s brain. A shortage of carbohydrate can cause loss of concentration, and a slow-down in reactions.

You need to concentrate hard, to solve logical puzzles. So, the next time you plan your diet, remember to include carbohydrate-rich foods. And proceed to make the logical puzzles look illogically simple!

Fortunately for you, the logic puzzles that follow don’t involve paint or brush, although they do demand an iota of grey matter…

Answer:
The dealer mixed 12 pounds of Pistachio with 12 pounds of cashew nuts.

The nut dealer mixed 12 pounds of cashew nuts at the rate of $6 with pistachio at the rate of $4 a pound to make 24 pounds of the mixture to sell at the rate of $5.

Let x be the amount of pistachios.

Every math problem may in fact appear to our subconscious mind,as a Harbadasher, forming a metaphorical ‘geometric pattern’.Perhaps, all you need to do is ‘read’ your subconscious, solve the ‘jigsaw’, and apply the solution, to the problem that confronts you.

Instead of dice, you roll two cute pink piglets, and you gain or lose points depending on how the critters land. For example, if both land on all fours, called a “double trotter,” you get 20 points; if they land lying opposite each other, called a “Pig Out,” you gain no points and cede your turn.
Go hog wild with the pig-tastic game, Pass the Pigs. Players attempt to rack up points by rolling the pig dice - but if they’re not careful they might ‘Pig Out’ and lose all their points. Pass the Pigs is the sizzlin’ fun, shakin’ bacon game!

He took them inside his office, and asked his secretary to write two flight tickets and book a room in a five-star hotel. The old lady and gentleman, as could be expected, gladly accepted, and were off!

About a month later, the little lady came to the travel agency.”And how did you like your holiday?” the agent asked eagerly.

“The flight was exciting, and the room was lovely,” she said. “I’ve come to thank you. But, one thing puzzled me. Who was that old guy I had to share the room with?”

Answer: Rod won 2 prizes in the first hour and won a total of 16 prizes.

Let us say the kids won y prizes in the first hour.

Then they won 4y prizes in the second hour, having a total of 5 * 4y prizes by the second hour.

After the third hour they had 20y * 5 or 100y prizes by the end of the third hour.

In the fourth hour they had 100y + 5 prizes or 130 prizes. So 100y + 5 = 205. 100y = 200. Or y = 2.

So each got 1 prize, in the first hour.

Now by the ratio we know that there are 26 parts

(2 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 8).

Rod won 8 parts out of 26 parts or 8/25 * 200 = 16 prizes.

That said, you know that the “Musicians” and “Dancers” doors are labeled wrong. Since the “Musicians” room cannot be labeled “Dancers” (because the “Dancers” only room is actually the “Musicians and Dancers” room) it must itself be the “Musicians and Dancers” room.
Trying harder in the same direction may not be as useful as changing direction. Thinking or talking about a familiar subject, over and over again, means following the same old neuronal path. Unless the cells are forced to find unfamiliar neurons or new parts of cells, they will stick to known paths. You exercise the same cell connections, while you are in a familiar place with familiar people, listening to known subjects. Introducing something new will enhance the properties of neural circuits, improving their processing speed. So, try a new approach, the next time you solve Sudoku… like, now!

It sounds so simple: get your team to name common words without voicing a few choice Idescriptors. But could you describe a wristwatch without mentioning time, wrist, or clock? Taboo rewards those who think–and speak- -fast. The team that correctly identifies as many words as possible in a minute (measured with an hourglass timer) wins. If a member of the opposing team, armed with the blaring buzzer, catches the clue giver using any of the taboo words, a point is deducted from the group’s score. It’s a good idea to separate people who know each other well, because their familiarity can be too great an advantage. If the clue is spinach, prompting with “Mom made this every Monday” just doesn’t seem fair, though it is permissible according to the rules. Playing Taboo requires an AA battery and a sense of humor–you’ll need them both! The timer is included. Taboo is for four or more players.

Now we have 30/x + 30/2x = 15.
