it's really possible to solve difficult sudoku puzzles in 90 seconds but you have to practice and practice til time comes that you already have developed your own technique/s whether it's difficult, hard or very hard category.
In God all things are possible.

It depends on which author/creator you use. Will Shortz "Beware! Very Challenging" Puzzles verses Wayne Gould/New York Post "Fiendish" verses mMichael Mapham'S "diabolical." If one creator's difficult puzzles seem to be getting easy, I often switch to another creator for awhile. I guess I use them more for brain food than how fast i can finish them.

I discovered Sudoku puzzles about 6 months ago. I thought I was doing fairly well at getting easy ones done in 15 minutes or so! Guess I have a very long way to go too.

I try all kinds from very easy to 'fiendish'. I get bored with the easy ones and try some more difficult ones to test my skills and then switch back to simple ones trying to solve them faster. With the more difficult ones, I have found that if I leave them for a while when I get stuck, when I come back to them, suddenly I see something I hadn't noticed before.

I never guess at any point. So far I have been able to solve most of them logically, although S-L-O-W-L-Y!!!! 90 seconds is still a very long way off for me though, even on the simple ones!

    HI
I am new here. I recently learnt how to play sudoku. It seems that the most difficult puzzles aren't solved by logic alone at some point is it common to guess between two numbers. It seems so unlike what logic is supposed to be. I've been doing logic problems for a long time but only recently with numbers. Perhaps numbers are different?

I think this is difficult for anyone to find out where you are going wrong and solve, except of course you!
I have a suggestion. Till you are able to find out where you are going wrong, write at one corner of the each cell, the sequence in which you solved that cell. That is, when you tackle the first cell write 1, say within a circle, so that you don't confuse with the cell value. When you have completed, go over the whole thing again in the same sequence and see what you are doing wrong. If there is a pattern, you can rectify your mistake. If there is no pattern, perhaps you are doing many things wrong, and learn to things more carefully and slowly till you avoid making mistakes.
    Will that help?
    All the best!

Help! I am very good with numbers and go through them all sequentially, making the eliminations wherever I can. But, I keep finding toward the end of the puzzle that I've done something wrong and made a mistake somewhere! I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm so careful. I just don't understand how I can be so stumped on so many of the ones I try to solve! Any ideas? Eagle73155@aol.com

    Hi,

Can you mention where exactly you got stuck?

Btw, do you know you can post a Sudoku position you're stuck on, online now?

Just go to the site: freesudokuhost.com and fill in the position where you got stuck, and press 'Submit'. You'll get a URL. Post that URL here.

We'll all help you. Otherwise, it's tough to explain how to solve a whole Sudoku in a forum like this, dodn't you agree?

    Have a great weekend!

    Hello everyone,
vectorchief, I agree with you completely.
Ok sometimes, I try the Puzzle of the Day. I admit, I would like to solve puzzles at my own pace and then having my name, of course, drawn ..... US $25 WOW!
I am hearing-impaired, well, there are times when I love not being able to hear "every_thing" and I remove my hearing aids and observe, like you do, people and the "milieu". Same thing with problem solving, it takes time to find a cure, to meditate, to live ...
Patience is a virtue ... I like that...

For what it's worth I find that the more i practice the faster i get - by being able to spot immediately which numbers are missing without having to count through them saves a lot of time -Ther eare only about 12 techniques to plough through so it's spotting which to use and when. At the moment i would reckon on 2 minutes for moderate and 4 - 5 minutes for difficult. Like most other people i would like to be quicker but i cannot think of any other alternative to practice, practice and more practice

During some days out, I enjoyed watching people doing things. How fast can we go, fly, write, think, calculate, etc., etc. It is the way we have programmed society... and the question...: is it better?.
My humble opinion and answer is NO.
Sudoku is an example. It is a beautiful opportunity for us to use logic, wits, and common sense. Like in sports, here and there we see a "wiz" performer, a champion, ready for competitions. Can we be like them?. Maybe. I am just happy to exercise my brain regularly, meditate here and there, and sometimes hit a home run with a difficult Sudoku. And for anybody out there for the 90 second mark... Congratulations!.
