    Think Sudoku, Have Fun

I'm the first one to make this post I guess. I loked around. This club seems empty. Senior citizens, join me in my Sudoku crusade. Let's make our club the liveliest one. Yeah. We ARE young at heart.

Yes i'm a senior and although I knew of their existance, I only became a fan of Sudoku about 18 months ago now I am somewhat of an addict. I never seem to run out of finding them and most times solving them (though not always).

Not sure about groups. Best option is to reply to one of the messages, and keep the conversation going. Good luck.

    i agree sudoku is addicting
Posted by pjmbathome on Thu, 2006-06-08 06:18

i work in a 'call center'. during the few seconds between calls, i work on my sudoku puzzles. I have to admit - i have become a sudoku addict. for instance, i subscribe to the daily newspaper JUST for the 'puzzle' page. i used to do 'variety' puzzles - including the diagramless, cryptograms and sometimes logic - but have lost interest in them. my nephew gave me a tiny sudoku book which i carry in my purse 24 hours a day. anyway, i have so many puzzles of ALL KINDS that i have book bags full. they seem to be taking over. help! lol. a friend gave me 'an extreme' sudoku book which involves entering 1 thru 16. on top of that, there is an 'x' (of circles) that also has to have 1 thru 16. (not numbers 0 thru 9 and A thru F as i have seen). i have finished ONE and cant seem to solve more than 5 digits on a SECOND ONE! any suggestions for solving this killer puzzle? this one is going to take me days, weeks and possibly months (i hope not) to solve. I REFUSE TO GIVE UP - YET!

    Addictive, all right

Totally agree. I discovered Sudoku about 8 months ago and am completely hooked. My previous challenge was diagramless crosswords, but now I have a new love. I made up my own solving grid with an Excel program - not to solve electronically, but to organize my probability search. Now I only tackle the occasional medium puzzle and go straight to the tough, hard, diabolical ones. When I mess one up, I re-enter the puzzle and do it again. Anyone else in the group from Canada?

My comfort level is right about 3 or 4 stars out of 5 as well. But I would love to know how the "experts" solve the most difficult ones. I have one of those sudoku solvers on my computer, and you can get suggestions from it, but not the logic behind it. That's what I want to hear!

Posted by JackW on Mon, 2006-05-08 14:11

My greatest comfort level is at the Medium level [3-4 out of 5 stars].

Maybe we can find someone [or a website] who would Walk us thru the Art of solving Hard puzzles, so that we can go much faster with them. We could follow along.

I believe the Secret is having all of the correct Possibilities in front of us, so that we can See the whole Board.

What do you think? Any ideas, Mimi?

I became addicted the minute I first laid eyes on Sudoku about a year ago. Never leave home without my puzzle book!! I still have trouble with the difficult ones, though, and I really need to read up on how to solve those.

    Addictive Hobby
Posted by Eilenna on Tue, 2006-04-25 19:35

I came across my first puzzle last December and found it fascinating, especially as I didn't want to have anything to do with numbers! I do the Daily puzzle on the web, then the ones in the local papers.
The good thing about Sudoku is that one doesn't need to have a dictionary or search engines to be able to solve it, just logic and perseverance.
But I have not dared to approach any of the "killer" ones!

It would be fun to have a lively club. How can we make our club very lively? We must really be young at heart, I do not know where the years went.
