    Puzzle of the Day

    Hey!
What's with the timer on the puzzle page?
The timer started the moment I clicked for the puzzle, then my mouse hanged. I managed to log off the net with the puzzle page still on the browser - and the timer kept going.
    Guess I lost 25 dollars...

    E-Book "How to Solve..."
Posted by marilyn sackheim on Tue, 2007-04-17 16:28

I just want you to know that I LOVE reading my ebook "How to Solve All..Sudoku.." and I'm STILL trying to get past SAP's in a decent time. I love the book and I love the exercises and the only request I have is that someday you consider publishing it so that I can take the book with me to all the stuff I take my sudoku with me now to do. The book (and more exercises, please) are geared to the more adult reader and I like the style. Thanks for the great ebook, consider publishing it and, oh, the cute little spiral stationery.. I bought one and it was WELL WORTH the money. I am very pleased with all the products from you all that I have purchased. Thanks again for being such a great site and by having so much for people like me, who love sudoku but have no illusions that they will ever be a speed solver. I'm just now getting to tough medium puzzles and I've been sudokuing for about a year now. Hugs and love, Marilyn

We thank our members for their kind words. I would like to reiterate that the main aim of Sudoku Village is to promote a thriving community of Sudoku enthusiasts. This community will grow faster if our members are more active -- i.e. more people take part in our contest, more post messages in the forums, etc. So, if you think the community is good, spread the word among your friends.

    Have a Good Day.

I am glad to see new names on the winners list. I have been lucky or fortunate to win a few times myself but when the same people are on the winners list week after week it does make it appear slanted. your site is by far THE BEST. I wish you had more puzzles listed instead of just one (freebie). Keep up the great work and I hope you can get more sponsers for the cash prize. To those who want to complain - go downstairs and do all the complaining you want.

Dave, the winner is not chosen at random but on the basis of being closest to the ideal time for a given puzzle. This ideal time is calculated by the system and depends on scientifically calibrated parameters.

So, keep competing, as you do have as good a chance as anyone else, to win. Good Luck.

I have read an admin post that said the winner is chosen at random from all the correct solutions. The puzzle timer is not a factor, nor is on-line, or off-line solving.

You can only submit one correct solution under your ID, so you have the same chance as any other correct solver to be awarded the cash prize.

The Cash Prize Sudoku Competition is genuine, not a hoax.

Once we receive the required information from a winner, including you, HazelEyes, the prize money is sent within a day or two.

So, here's wishing all members of Sudoku Village Good Luck in our future contests!

Is there really a cash prize for winning the daily puzzle, if so when do you receive it? I replyed to the message sent from admin requesting my paypal email Id but no prize yet. Is it all a hoax?

    Winning time
Posted by KnowHow on Wed, 2006-11-29 14:23

Along with the daily winner and solution, I think it would be a good idea to post the winning time as well. I'm new to Sudoku Village and was just wondering how I stack up against the winners.

    How quick are the winning times? 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 minutes?

Posted by Janet D on Tue, 2006-05-09 02:11

Well I guess I'm a cheater. Did not realize that you had to stay on line and do it. Have been printing puzzle and doing by hand first then going back on line and filling in the spaces. I haven't seen anywhere that you can't do it this way. If you can't I guess they will revoke my win from yesterday. Will let you all know if I hear anything.

    Forgot to mention...
Posted by admin on Sat, 2006-04-22 15:23

The software permits genuine attempts at logging out (or machine hanging), coming back, and re-solving. Wonder how? Well, that's a million $ secret!

    ;)

    [ reply ]

Yes, if you log out and come back, timer restarts...
Posted by admin on Sat, 2006-04-22 15:20

alright, but the software makes sure that most of the attampts to cheat are taken care. Try posting by logging out, solve it offline, and post the solution. You won't ever get the prize!

    Geeeee ;)

yeah, I doubt that would work anyways because if it did, he wouldn't be telling everyone how he cheats. unless he was retarted. just kidding.
